About us

Auld Man's Baccie = Yarrow Achillea millefolium  In the Hebrides a leaf held against the eyes was believed to give second sight. In days of yore it was smoked in place of tobacco.

How did Auld Man’s Baccie come about?
Nick and I had known each other for years (he once lived next door to my older brother)

After a chance meeting in October 2014 at a local open mic night we decided to get together and and rehearse to see if it was viable to form a duo playing the music we loved, namely.... Acoustic Blues!

It quickly became apparent that we knew more than enough songs to get up and running.

So under that old adage “You can sit and strum in your living room until kingdom come, but it's only in front of an audience you really learn anything” we got some gigs and off we went (and haven't looked back!)

What sort of stuff do you?
Acoustic renditions of early Chicago Blues, Gospel, Roots and Americana.

Influences?
Muddy Waters, Lightning Hopkins, Elmore James, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Peter Green, Rory Gallagher, Memphis Minnie, Skip James, Tampa Red, Son House
